A local man will have 25 years in jail to think about the horrors of making homemade child porn, and a woman was jailed for having sex with a 14 year old boy.

Greg McCauley of Saltillo was busted last July for taking pictures of himself having sex with a girl younger than 14 – then sent the images around the Internet. He plead guilty to two of the eight counts against him. He will serve one 25 year sentence and another 20 year sentence concurrently.

In other sex offense news, 26 year old Mary Jannett is in jail on charges of statutory rape. She confessed to having sex with the (most likely) willing 14 year old boy after a tip-off from a worried parent. The Starkville woman has not had a bond set yet.

The assailant of a 20 year old Saltillo woman has finally been identified.

Anna Catherine McCoy was found dead with bullet wounds at a home on Willoughby Oaks Drive in Saltillo this past April – ostensibly, the home of her ex-boyfriend. The murder weapon, a .40 caliber handgun, was found at the scene.

Authorities today have charged Thomas Ward with the depraved heart murder of McCoy. Depraved heart murder is a term used for a criminal act that shows a callous disregard for human life and results in death, in case you didn’t know. In essence, it’s second degree murder.

The news couldn’t be worse for Thomas Ward – McCoy’s father is a retired Tupelo police officer. Ward is currently rotting away at the Lee County Adult Detention Center, and no further details are available at this time.
